the Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona (CIUA) received the Chinese government’s prestigious Confucius Institute of the Year award

On December 6, 2015, the Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona (CIUA), received the Chinese government’s prestigious Confucius Institute of the Year award at the tenth Confucius Institute Conference held in Shanghai, recognizing CIUA's accomplishments as outstanding among a select group of only 20 Confucius Institutes out of 500 worldwide. Chinese Vice Premier Yandong Liu prsented the award to UA VP Mike Proctor, and the director of Confucius Institute Headquarters, Madame Lin Xu warmly congratulated VP Proctor on CIUA's achievement.

The goal of the Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona (CIUA) is to promote multiculturalism and advance friendly relationships between the United States and China through building language and culture bridges that link the two nations' peoples. The Institute specializes in promoting health and wellness by means of traditional Chinese medicine, martial arts and music. We offer Chinese language and culture classes, public lectures, online Chinese language proficiency tests, youth summer camps in China and Arizona, and live demonstrations of various aspects of Chinese culture. Arizona Chinese New Year Festival, Chinese Health Day and Chinese Culture Festival are well-known events organized and hosted by CIUA every year.  CIUA now has seven affiliated Confucius Classrooms in K-12 schools in Arizona and serves over 12,000 students with respect to their Chinese learning.  CIUA's hallmark culture events attract over 6000 people each year...
