Modern China

Specifically designed for those who are interested in “real” China, not only what appears in popular media, but events and changes taking place in China from a native perspective. The class will include videos, photographs, discussions and multidisciplinary teaching with actual Chinese university students’ based on a network environment.

Classical Poetry of the Tang Dynasty for Children New!

Classical poetry of the Tang dynasty is a unique literary art form of China. The combined aesthetics of elegant rhyme scheme and ingenious diction make it a gem of world culture. This course will focus on the appreciation and recitation of classical Tang dynasty poetry, in order to improve the students' reading comprehension and word expression, as well as to increase their knowledge of Chinese history and culture.

Chinese for Tourists                                           

Specifically designed for those who want to learn language essential for travel in China, this course will provide an introduction to Chinese with an emphasis on traditional culture. Topics include an overview of many scenic and historical sites, discussion of traditional Chinese arts, and other topics to make your travel more enriching and enjoyable.

Chinese For Business                

This valuable course is specifically designed for people who would like to learn aspects of the Chinese language essential and necessary for conducting business with and in China. Language comprehension and an introduction to culturally applicable business strategies will be included. Students will also become familiar with Chinese customers’ expectations, concerns, and needs etc.

HSK Prep Levels 1-2

CIUA  serves as the first internet-based Chinese Test Center in Arizona. The Center offers Chinese proficiency tests -  Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) - twice a year. This is the international standardized test of Chinese proficiency, approved by the Chinese Department of Education. The courses are designed for those who are preparing to take the HSK exam.

Instructor: Ms. Jing Ouyang

Schedule: Mon. 5-7pm, Jan. 23 - May 1, 2017 (No class on Mar. 13)
